This kid cracks me up! At times he is my most serious kid, and other times he is just plain silly! We always joke about him being pretty much invincible...we have dents in our sheet rock where his head has made contact with it and he didn't even cry! We always hope that he will use his powers for good, and not evil purposes.
So this little tough guy just comes in and is crying that his toe is bleeding all over and it hurts! He drags his helpless limb over to me to show me his horrible injury. The big toenail looked a little red around the edge, as if it had been bleeding a tiny bit like an hour ago. But if little Bear says it hurts, then it probably is really bugging him. So he was crying that he needed a Band-Aid and some Neosporin, so I went to get it. (taking a break from my present project of blog-stocking...that is reading about people I have never even met!)
So I went into the bathroom and found what I needed. I'm all, "Bear, get in here."
"I can't Mom!"
"Just come in here, we have to wash your dirty foot."
"It's bleeding! You can just get a cup of water and use it to pour on it!"
"Um, no. Get over here."
So then my invincible little 5-year-old starts sliding across the floor on his back, dragging his bloody stump towards the bathroom. I was just staring at him and told him to just get up and come over. To which he replied, "I know what to do Mom, I'm not blind!" (huh?)
So I got the invalid to the bathroom safely and sat him up on the counter top so that we could wash his foot in the sink. OH MY DIRTY FOOT!! How does that boy do it?! We can bathe him every night and I swear, the first thing he must do when he gets outside is roll in the dirt! It is kind of like that little Pigpen kid from the Peanuts! But we love him and all his dirt.
So after chipping away at all the dirt, we got his maimed toe all bandaged up. He wanted to put the HUGE Band-Aid on it, but I convinced him that he didn't need one that big.
Why did I tell this whole story? I just love how much that kid makes me giggle. We were totally just laughing about him wanting the huge Band-Aid, and his silliness.
Another really funny Bear story...he came in earlier today with some shorts on. He goes, "Mom, these shorts are the T that I wear, but they are too big around here." (the T that he wears means that he thinks they are size 6T.) So he needed the little waist band things tightened (one of the reasons I love Old Navy pants for my kids...not for me!!! Those stink!)
ANYWAY! I was all, "You kids are sure skinny little guys!"
To which he replies, "Yep. We're skinny. Daddy's skinny too. He was really skinny when you got married so you had to fluff him up huh?"
I think when he left the room I probably teared up from laughing so hard. =)
Ok, one more funny Bear story! (Sorry, I just can't resist!) I took Bear, Smiley and Small-fry to the grocery store the other day. It was getting really bad around here, so unless I wanted to feed them like pickle slices and cream of ketchup soup, we had to go that day. So they wanted to ride in the little carts that have the car thing. Fine, there are two seats in there, keeps them busy. So I put Smiley and Bear in the seats, and Small-fry's car seat in the actual cart part, and off we went.
The boys were very helpful. Bear really wanted plums, so as I was getting a bag to put them in, Bear was filling Smiley's lap with a nice pile of plums. I quickly put them in a bag and told them not to do that!
I haven't gone to the grocery store forever, so I had to get a ton. The kids were getting more and more buried as we went. Ian kept saying, "I don't want to get buried!!" Finally I was so out of room that told them I was going to get them out and they could walk the rest of the time. Normally this would have gotten a very negative response....something along the lines of, "NO!! We can't walk!! We will get too tired!! It's like 300 miles!!" This time the response was way more positive. So I go to grab Bear first. I went lift him...he was stuck tight! Didn't even budge a little bit!

So I hooked my arms under his and pulled again. Nothing!!
I started giggling around this point, which makes tugging your kid out of a pile of groceries that much harder. Thank heavens there was nobody else in the aisle to question my sanity.
So I shifted some of the stuff and pulled again. He came out, leaving his sandals in the bottom...which, mind you were the strappy kind that don't just pull off that easily! So I dig those out and we get him put back together. Then I rescued Smiley and all was good. They were so happy to be out of there that they just held their little Lunchables and followed me like well behaved little kids. (doesn't happen too often!)

Ahhh...what would I do without my little comedians around?
Live in a clean house, that didn't smell weird in places.
Eat real food and not just Macaroni & Cheese and chicken nuggets.
Probably not step on Legos at 4 in the morning. Not just because there wouldn't be Legos, but because there would also not be a 4 in the morning!
Not have to wipe poop from any foreign bum.
Be able to buy real hand soap that smells nice, without the risk of a 3-year-old (no names here) dumping the entire thing either down the drain, or in the dog's water bowl.
Would never have to growl under my breath at restaurants, "Will you get out from under the table?! SICK!!!"
Never have retrieve boogers out of any foreign nose.
Ahhhhh.... Motherhood....
I wouldn't trade it for anything! Nothing can compare to always having that little edge of excitement that comes from never knowing when one of them will tell mommy that her belly is getting fatter in front of just anyone. (It is NOT GETTING FATTER!!! I just had a baby like 2 1/2 months ago...CUT ME SOME SLACK KID!!! Go back to calling your dad fluffy!!! grrrrrr)
Ok, I am done with my wild rambling for the day!
